About
Purpose
The purpose of this new organization is to bring leading presenters to our beautiful valley to discuss important issues on a non-partisan basis. A group of leading citizens from Basalt to Glenwood Springs are the Founders of the Council. Several of them are active at the Aspen Institute and wish to bring a bit of the same quality to our down valley citizens.
I’ve always had a dream about using the Thunder River Theater to have some presenters of distinction come and talk about cultural, political, ecological and all kinds of issues that we want to know about…and some we ought to know about. – Jim Calaway
The main purpose and mission of the council’s events is to make an affordable, lovely opportunity for all the people in the Roaring Fork Valley. I hope it will last into the future, long after I’m gone, to enrich and benefit our lives – Jim Calaway
The council will have as partners Colorado Mountain College and Thunder River Theatre Company where the events will be held.
